What a Lovely Day

Living in Ireland has its ups and downs. To be fair, a lot more ups but there’s one thing that always seems to let me down here. What is it you ask? The weather! It’s generally a country plagued with rain, cold and dull miserable days. Usually throughout the year! But every so often we get a spell of good weather and it’s delightful. Today is one of those days! It’s absolutely gorgeous outside, with the sun belting down and lighting the place up. 


It’s currently 21 degrees, which to a lot of other countries is nothing. When I lived in Barcelona, this was considered a normal day come summer time. Anything under 30 degrees seemed to be a disappointment! But to us, anything over 18 degrees is considered an extremely warm day and a shock to the system. I never understood though how 21 degrees here in Ireland feels like it’s 30 degrees in Spain! It’s obviously something to do with the climate and humidity difference, but all I know is I’m about the pass out from the heat right now! Getting weather like this really does make my day, it lightens up the mood and makes for a productive mindset. I live in the countryside too, so the scenery is fantastic when it’s sunny. The birds are chirping and the colours are dazzling! I’m surrounded by fields of grass, hills, animals and flowers. It’s almost therapeutic! 


Sunday’s are usually my lazy day. I’m presuming this is a common theme for most people though! Chilling on my bed has now been made even more enjoyable, as the sun is shining directly on me. As you can tell from the photo, it’s very relaxing. I can’t think of anything more enjoyable right now. Writing blog posts, reading your creative posts and connecting with new people. It’s only a matter of time before I fall asleep though, this is a bit too relaxing! Unfortunately, I know this weather won’t last so I’m having to make the most of it today. Hopefully it sticks around for a few more days or weeks! A man can hope.

  3. Lol I live in Trinidad (Caribbean) we had 35. Degrees Celsius this week today wasn’t so bad we got some rain so it was around 32… Was a relatively lazy Sunday 😉

  4. It was unusually sunny when I was in Ireland and I loved every minute of it. I don’t mind rainy weather, but Ireland is so beautiful when the sun can shine on all the gorgeous plant life! It’s funny because it was about 50 degrees fahrenheit (10 celsius) when we were there, and the locals kept telling us how hot it was outside. This was funny to us because, where we are from in the states, the average temperature for this time of year is around 80 to 90 degrees fahrenheit (26 to 32 celsius) xD

    1. Really? That’s good to hear! It is a really lovely place, it’s very rural and historical! Some of the tourist sites around Ireland are beautiful. Oh wow, that’s such a contrast. It’s true though that’s like a summer to us ☺️ Very amusing really!

      1. Oh yeah, I loved it there 🙂 And yes, it is amusing lol. Especially since, in spite of it being uncharacteristically warm for Ireland, we still had to wear jackets to keep from being too cold xD

  5. I actually lived in Ireland for a summer back in 2007. I absolutely loved it. I enjoy warm sunny weather more so it was hard to get used to the rain and gloom but I was able to see the beauty in it. I miss Ireland everyday.

    1. Where did you live? ☺️ I know, it must be hard for people who come from hot climates to venture to Ireland! It wouldn’t affect people too much if it was a short visit but for a year you would start to feel the cold! It’s a lovely place and the people are very friendly.

      1. Our flat was in Blanchardstown which is a suburb of Dublin. We also stayed in Limerick, Dublin and visited some of the popular tourist sites around Ireland. The people are incredibly friendly and the landscape is breathtaking. Where do you live?

  6. We’re heading from winter into spring here in Cape Town South Africa, with temps of around 20C at the moment. You are quite right in that the same temp can feel so different in different countries, and I still don’t get it! Maybe it’s the air pressure or humidity?
    Last summer we had 38C day after day – which was way too hot!
    I grew up in England, but sadly never visited Ireland. My kids have both been, and loved it. 🙂

    1. That’s still really warm for me, especially seeing as it’s spring time there. Obviously though that’s nothing compared to the 30 odd degrees you get in summer. That’s so so hot. How do you survive with that heat! The weather in England is similar to Ireland at times, although I think it can be a lot better there at times. I’m glad your children enjoyed it, maybe some day in the future you might visit also.

      1. Around 30C is hot, but as it’s not as humid here, it is bearable. You just stay in the shade and try not to go out at all between 10 am and 4 pm! 😀 – The complete opposite of UK, where you go outside any time the sun remotely shines! 🙂
        Yes, I’d love to visit Ireland one day. 🙂

  7. Currently living in Portugal which is way more warm than my home country, the Netherlands. Although the temperature difference isn’t even that big, what with being on the coast and all, I think the sun is a lot more stronger here. And that actually makes for very hot afternoons, especially when there isn’t a lot of wind. Regardless of the weather though, I would love to visit Ireland. It is high on my list, since the surf there would also be quite spectacular I think!! Anyway, you really make it sound very beautiful 🙂

    1. I’ve never been to Portugal, I’m sure it’s lovely though! It must have been a shock going from Netherlands to Portugal weather wise. The coast will be warmer, that was the same when I was living in Barcelona. As for the waves here, if you ever do visit, then there are a lot of places you can go. Clare, Kerry and many more have beaches with great waves 😄 Lovely scenery too!

  8. I hear Ireland is beautiful! We are in the Inland Northwest corner of the United States! Summer is coming to an end, which means the it is the beginning of our fire season. High winds and humidity don’t play nice with wooded area that has been baking in the 90 degree heat for weeks on end.
    Fall is beautiful with all of the trees changing colors and Spring is just as amazing when things start to bloom. Winter? Dreary. Cold. Long and ugly. But? With each season, I feel like it is a new beginning. Always changing, never the same. I love where we live!

    1. It really is! I can imagine, you’re going to have a long Autumn and winter season. That’s a brilliant way of looking at it, I love that. Change is pleasing and each new season brings new experiences! America is on my bucket list of places to travel, so I’ll be sure to head down to the northwest area 😀

  11. I love the cold as well; sadly, it rarely gets below 70 F/12 C in Texas.

  14. Life’s always amazing as and when I am in the lap of nature .
    Hills , mountains , waterfalls , sun & moon with a night full of stars … always fills me with a new life .
    Breathing in fresh air rejuvenates me always .

  15. August 28 in Mississippi started out at 25degC and 100% relative humidity. Before the day was over, it was 37degC, and a passing afternoon thunderstorm, though brief in respite, brought the humidity from a low of 70% right back up to near 100%.. everything stops in Mississippi when it gets like this. Fall will be here soon enough. We long for it, it’s coolness, and it’s colors. In August, even the dogs hide; they won’t even come out to eat, much less expend the energy to bark at a stranger. It’s hot…and green.. a lush, subtropical sort of green. Everything grows with a reckless abandon.

    1. That’s very hot, at least for me anyway! I can imagine, it would be hard do anything in that heat. We don’t get anywhere close to that in Ireland. The subtropical green sounds pleasing to the eye though. Nevertheless I think it would be hard for anyone to become accustomed to such heat and humidity!

  19. I live in Alberta, Canada. It was much cooler yesterday. Saturday there was a chinook but it wasn’t windy the temp. was only around eighteen which isn’t bad. We only had a few thirty degree days this summer thank goodness. It is now fall and the leaves are all turning to vibrant yellows and orange against a back drop of green. When it gets down to twenty in the summer I always sigh in relief. The older I get the harder extreme temperatures are to tolerate. We do learn to adapt to weather changes though.

    1. I’ve never visited Canada so it is interesting to here this. 18 would be considered very warm in Ireland so that’s pretty good. Am I wrong in saying that Canada gets extremely cold come winter time? Unless you’re used to the extremely warm days it can be tough to adapt. I found this out while living in Spain. Thanks good to hear 🙂

  20. It depends on where you live in Canada. It is a large country with a wide variety of weather. BC has mild weather compared to the rest of the country. Here in Alberta we get chinooks which can almost melt all the snow. Last winter it was very mild which made a lot of people worry due to the lack of moisture. Most of of April and May was hot and dry while July and August was wet. We needed the moisture but we went from drought conditions to flooding in some parts of the country.. You just can’t win and just have to take what Mother Nature hands us. Even though I am of Irish descent I have never been in Ireland. Who knows maybe one day.

    1. Ah yes I forgot that size is a factor, living in Ireland (which is very small compared to Canada) means that the weather is usually unanimous around the country. That’s quite a mixture of weathers! At least your seasons seem to stick to there weather schedule for the most part. Sometimes here we can have summer in winter and winter in spring, it’s so unreliable. It’s a lovely country though, so maybe sometime you can pay a visit 🙂

  21. Our seasons aren’t that reliable, not like they used to be. sometimes winter can start in September. That is what happened two years ago. The saying here is if you don’t like the weather wait five minutes. Our weather can be totally unpredictable but at least the extreme heat and cold don’t always stick around long. I have heard that Victoria is similar to Ireland.

    1. Climate in general I guess tends to be unreliable. That’s an awfully early winter, it must have taken time to adjust. Yes, it’s nice to have a happy medium at times instead of a harsh sun or coldness. Possibly, although I’ve never been to Victoria.
