It has become very apparent to me that inspiration, motivation, happiness and many more positive emotions can be preached through many different types of mediums. It’s common to experience these feelings through real life occurrences – whether it be talking to a person or witnessing an action first hand. This is through the medium of reality. Reality is fantastic when it comes to these positives, but so can the inspiration of the unrealistic.
The medium of film has been a concept I’ve become well used too. Simply because they can be so creative and inspiring all at the same time. Films are works of art that can display a hidden meaning which can be so beautiful. I say unrealistic in the sense that films are scripted, acted and either displayed through animated or non-animated visual production. Even though It’s now very clear to me that reality can be portrayed through unrealistic mediums. In this case, it’s animation and in particular a movie known as ‘The Little Prince‘.
I’m not one for writing reviews, so this will not be a review of the movie. It’s simply just a notification of awareness towards a piece that I found truly amazing. Netflix have started to produce fantastically meaningful and beautiful films lately. Some of the films they make can connect so well with an audience and it is a great trait to have in relation to film production. Not even Netflix but filmmakers in general can provide this emotional service. Everything from the overall story, the production, the music and the meaning portrayed were heartwarming and inspirational to me. It’s not everyday a movie does this, but The Little Prince had it all in abundance.
Don’t worry, I won’t be spoiling any part of the film for you good people. You can thank me later! Remember, this isn’t a movie review so I’m not going to tell you every detail of the film!
I know some of you will immediately think that this looks like a children’s film. I mean I guess it technically is veered towards that age but it doesn’t take away from the beauty and hidden meaning which we can learn from watching it.
One specific part of the film had such an amazing meaning and I think it can really inspire anyone if you dare to let yourself indulge in it. A rose is a flower of specific visual pleasure. Every rose looks the same. A rose is a rose and it’s very hard distinguish one from the next. The Little Prince shows a boy fall in love with a speaking rose. Later on in the movie he is seen stumbling across a garden of roses. They all look the same and try to lure him in. So why does he not love each and every rose like the specific one before? Because it’s not about what’s on the outside and more about the deeper essentials of an object. He connected with that one specific rose and loved it with all his heart. These other roses may look the same but they don’t have the connection or meaning this boy had with that one rose. It’s simply about the inside and not the outside that matters. The outside can provide a falseness at times, but the inside will always shine through. The following quote struck a chord with me:
What is essential is invisible to the eye.
Life is a hidden mystery as such, our goal is to go out and discover it piece by piece. It’s like a treasure you search for and try so passionately to find. People tend to look at things in life in a very one-dimensional way. The Little Prince shows us that it’s better to really search for the meaning in something as opposed to only looking at what’s in front of you. In a way, this film is a visual representation of what I try to preach through words. Not only is the meaning fantastic, but the visuals of the movie and the music are phenomenal too. Here is a little snippet of a piece of music in the score of The Little Prince. It may not be your cup of tea but I really enjoyed it and it added greatly to the enjoyment of the film.
At this point, people may start to consider that The Little Prince have sponsored me to write this post. I can now inform you that this is certainly not true! I just felt it was necessary to explain my love for this film in a post and hope that some of you out there watch it – and hopefully have the same connection I did with it.
I don’t want to ruin it too much so I think you should all take a moment to watch this movie. You won’t be disappointed. It’s so meaningful and it will inspire and motive you. The film is currently available on Netflix and if you don’t have Netflix then I’m sure there is a way to work around it! As far as I know, It’s in book form as well but I haven’t read it myself yet.
It’s clear that films can connect with people greatly nowadays. Have you ever connected with a particular film and why? Let me know in the comments below!

Nice review and great to see how this movie inspired you. I watched it like almost a year ago (via torrent) and also found it to be very enjoyable. If you liked this, then definitely go and check out the book as well. On that note, the book and movie have some enormous differences in storyline, but the overall message is the same. Also, the book is somewhat better than the movie, in my opinion. Cheers mate.

I remember reading this story in French class in high school. While I understood most of it, it was the deeper meanings that got me more. It seems they kept those meanings alive and well in the film as well. I will see this one for sure! Thanks for the review that’s not a review 🙂

The graphics r top-notch and true, film industry shapes culture and culture shapes us. Hunger Games reminds me how base and untrustworthy politics and politicians can get and the power of genuine youth. That was top secret… how manipulative of you

Yeah they’re really good. I agree, it’s surreal how a movie can shape us in this present era. A lot of movies now have a hidden meaning behind it. It’s very enjoyable to look for it. So true!

Surreal? for me, surreal is the only reality.

I absolutely loved this story as a kid. I love how Netflix did their rendition as a sequel to the original book and movie. Now that the Little Prince is an adult, he is trying to keep hold of that fun, carefree attitude every child has.

It’s great isn’t it! I did not even realise it was a sequel? I’m yet to read the book, but I won’t lie I presume it was an original! I think everyone can relate a bit to this.

It’s originally French. But it’s absolutely wonderful. I think you can still get the original movie at least from Netflix on DVD. It’s quite old. But when you see the snake part, definitely let me know if it reminds you of Michael Jackson. I have been trying to convince people that he ripped the snake guy off!
